Who makes us masters 

             By the tradition every autumn the ceremony of celebrating best tutors takes place in the training center of Bogatyr Coal, LLP. The warm words and congratulations are pronounced in their name, they get flowers and honorable letters… This October has not been an exception.

            The people pay much attention here to the development of tutorship.

- For any enterprise the main thing is not machinery and equipment, but people, - Erken Rakhmangulov, Director for Personnel and Social Policy of the company said before the event opening, - the company treats every person with much care and attention and is striving for people not only having good jobs but also upgrading their professional growth. The invaluable role in this matter is played by tutors.

Fifteen best tutors out of almost a thousand were invited to participate in this year gathering. One of them is Aleskandr Kuptsov, the team leader from Mining and Transportation Equipment Maintenance Plant. Aleksandr works in the section of metal structures. Kuptsov is considered to be a highly skilled specialist. People place confidence in him and people like him, when it is necessary to fulfill most complicated and responsible types of repair. Recently the crane-beam was delivered to the section for restoration. This large-sized part from the excavator having six meters in length has some peculiarities in repair. But for Kuptsov they are not something new. For eleven years of his work in the section he mastered all the details of their restoration very well. And when the graduates of the professional technical secondary school or mining college are sent here for production practice, some of them are sure to come to Aleksandr. The section management know that Kuptsov will make a real specialist from a guy. Literally half a month ago he “sent for free floating” one more of his pupils. Ruslan Gorbach came to the section just recently, having received the specialty of a mechanic on assembly of metal structures of the 3rd category in the company training center. Of course, he needed some support of elder colleagues. Aleksandr Kuptsov became his tutor.

- The repair of metal structures of mining equipment requires a skill to read drawings from a mechanic, - Aleksandr Kuptsov says, - Ruslan is a bright guy, he is quick to grasp. But nevertheless some prompts were needed. He is one of those, who need to be told and shown only once. It is immediately obvious that a profession of a mechanic is his mission.

Currently Ruslan Gorbach works by himself, but the father support to him was given by his tutor Aleksandr Kuptsov.

Not everybody can become a tutor. Not everybody wants to accept responsibility for professional training of young guys.

- There is no way without tutorship! – says Aleksandr Kuptsov against them. – I know myself: when I started my labor activity, I also got help from my tutors. I think I would have never become what I am today without them.

…By right the collective of the company training center can be called the main hero of today holiday, on the shoulders of which there lies the organization of training process of young specialists. For many years the training system was built by Lyubov Sharipova, the Head of the company training center. Together with her colleagues – Elena Kazakntseva, her Deputy, Irina Pushkina, Sector Head, and other specialists she raised it to the highest level.

              All began in the 90-ies of the last century from the Technical Training Department, which was gradually expending its capabilities.

- The company management raised a task in front of us – to renew the training system, which could preserve, and in case of operations upgrade – to increase the level of professional training of personnel, - Sharipova says, - and we started creating the maneuver system, which would allow resolving the issues of training during shorts terms and with minimal expenditures, and in case of introduction of newest technologies – to increase the professional level of employees. We have achieved the goal.

To confirm the words one can add that Bogatyr Coal, LLP became the holder of the silver figurine and special diploma of the First Kazakhstani Competition Senim-2010, which was held within the frames of the sixth international conference called “Human Resources Management: Innovation in HR”. The Project called Personnel Training and Development submitted by the miners to the competition was acknowledged as one of the best in the Republic. The big merit in it belongs to the collective of the training center.

Currently on the basis of the training center the training, retraining and qualification upgrade is held round the year on 147 professions.

Several years ago the personnel of the training center developed the Program of Training for Managers and Persons Responsible for Provision of Safety and Labor Protection in the Organization, which was approved by Pavlodar Regional Department of Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population.

In the training center there is a formed strong teachers’ staff, which mainly consists of chief or lead specialists and first managers of the company structural subdivisions. Annually up to 120 people are attracted to conduct theoretical lessons and consultations. After the end of the theoretical training young employees are mandatorily sent to operations, where tutors are assigned to them. They are real masters, who help young specialists master skills and methods of work fulfillment, get professional skills and use their knowledge in practice.

…One more hero of today event – rail track repair man from Bogatyr Loading and Transportation Department Bekbolat Battalov. Having lost his job, he moved to Ekibastuz from Maikain at the beginning of the 1990-ies and was employed in Ekibastuzugol Production Association as a rail track repair man. He knew almost nothing about this profession. However, as people say: “You never know what you can do till you try”. So, little by little Bekbolat started to master the new profession. He thought a man with a heavy lump hammer in hands should spike metal spikes not thinking about anything, and no special knowledge was needed for it. In practice it turned out to be not so simple. The railroad demanded a very attentive attitude to it, and some special knowledge was really needed. Bekbolat was learning all that wisdom in practice.   

- My tutors were Head and Foreman of the track section, where I started to work. Of course, they were not teaching me how to correctly hold a lump hammer and spike well, - Bekbolat smiled, - but they helped in something bigger – they taught me to love this profession. Currently I myself am a crew leader and teach young guys. This year ten guys came to our section from the technical secondary school. They are literate, intelligent, some of them are students of the mining college, but still they need help from the elder colleagues. The crew took them in ward. I hope they, like us, have chosen the profession of a rail track repair man correctly.

            …The organizers of the event transformed it into a solemn celebration of best production tutors. It started from the official part. It was opened by the Head of the company Training center Lyubov Sharipova. Briefly she told the gathered people about the work on training qualified specialists-miners, on the role of tutorship in professional training of young workers and specialists. Then Erken Rakhmangulov, Director for Personnel and Social Policy of the company made a speech.

Erken Zhunusovich noted that in Bogatyr Coal, LLP the big attention was given to the development and support of traditions. One of them is popularization of tutorship.

- Probably, in everybody’s life there was uncle Kolya or uncle Vanya, who were teaching not only professional wisdom, but were a proper way to go, and we remember them despite our age, - concluded his speech Personnel Director.

Then Aleksandr Shmeyer, Chairman of the company Trade Union Committee addressed to the guests with his greeting. He also highly evaluated the role of tutors at the operations. Then he added that Bogatyr Coal, LLP did not save money for personnel training investing a lot of funds not only in the operations but also in every person specifically.

- A literate specialist is worth much, - the Trade Union leader said, - and only he can be useful for further prosperity of the enterprise.

Then the most exciting moment came – the ceremony of awarding best tutors. One after another they were coming to the stage and, blushing, receiving deserved honorable letters and … applauses of their colleagues. They also listened to the kind words from the teachers and masters of professional training of educational institutions, whose students were having their production practice in the structural subdivisions of the company. And the students themselves were granting their best songs and dances to their tutors…

Among the speakers there was also Deputy Director of Ekibastuz Polytechnic College Gulnur Kilybekova, Director of Ekibastuz College of Engineering and Technical Institute named after Academician Satpayev Ardak Beketova and Director of Professional Lyceum #18 named after K. Pshembayev Zeinolla Moldakhmetov. They were speaking about the big role, which was played by Bogatyr Coal, LLP in the life of the graduates of these educational institutions. By their opinion, the very reliable and serious base had been formed there for training highly qualified specialists.

…Bogatyr Coal, LLP is one of the few enterprises in Ekibastuz, where the best traditions of the past years were restored long time ago. They give the positive results – every year tens of young graduates of the town colleges, institute and professional technical secondary schools come to work for the company. And it is their tutors, who help them become real craftsmen.
