The best are winners

On the threshold of two professional holidays in sequence - Railroad Man's Day and Miner's Day - Bogatyr Coal LLP hold a traditional competition called Best in Profession amongst PE2M(U) traction unit operators. Ten specialists of a railroad profile took part in the professional mastership competition.

At the  beginning of the competition its participants were congratulated by Nurlan Mukulov, Director for Personnel and Social Policy of the company. He wished good luck and victory in the honest struggle to all the competition participants. The contest was opened from a theory part, in which the participants had to demonstrate their excellent knowledge of the subject. All of them were given 50 test questions each. For example, they had to answer the following questions correctly: "How to check the working order of a lock to a lock (against self-detachment)?" or "What are the main parts of a crane of a locomotive auxiliary brake of a conventional #254 locomotive?" According to the competition conditions a participant received one point for each correct answer. By the results of the first tour the following operators were the leaders: amongst the veterans – V.Kolesnikov (48 points), amongst the youth - A. Shaimerdenov (47 points). Then the drawing procedure determined the order of competing in the practical part. Everybody had to demonstrate excellent skills and professional intuition when operating a locomotive, namely speaking to stop a PE2M(U) traction unit not knocking off a set up bar. The best in the practical part was D.Makushin amongst the veterans and B.Bagatov amongst the youth.

By the point total for two rounds the three best operators were determined in each age group.
