Successful year for Serik Sattarov

14.11.2014

Just a month ago we congratulated Serik Sattarov on the bronze medal won at the sixth world championship in judo amongst veterans. And again the great news – the third place in the world championship in sambo (unarmed self-defence) amongst masters in Greece. So successful was the end of the sport year for Deputy Director-Head of Overburden Complex of Bogatyr coal mine. All started from the brilliant victory at the championship of Kazakhstan in sambo in Turkestan.

As it seemed for Serik Sattarov, his carrier in sport finished almost twenty five years ago, after the severe injury. But in real life it is just beginning. In 2014 he resumed his training sessions in Bogatyr sport and health complex and Zhasybay sport and health center and tested his skills in the competitions in kazaksha kures fight held in Bogatyr Coal LLP and felt the temptations of a sport arena, and that he still could materialize his potential. The first large achievement was the gold medal in the championship of Kazakhstan in sambo. The contest took place in Turkestan in May and gathered 140 sportsmen from 14 towns and cities of the republic. The victory became the voucher to the world championship in Greece. But prior to going to the country of antiquity Serik Sattarov managed to win the bronze medal at the world championship in judo held on September 25-27 in the Spanish city of Malaga. In the age category of 45-49 years with the weight of 90 kg, he had six fights and won five of them. One of them he lost and yielded to the five-time world champion Aleksandr Yelizarov from Russia.

In the world championship in sambo in Greece amongst masters on October 25-28 the Kazakhstani delegation was presented by 37 sportsmen from 250 participants filed from 19 countries, Pavlodar region was presented by three fighters - two from Ekibastuz (Serik Sattarov and Dauren Mukushev) and Oraz Muntynov from Pavlodar. All three of them performed greatly. Serik yielded to the German fighter with the equal score 2:2 in the fight when getting into the final, but the sambo rules state a victory should be awarded to a person, who won the last point, thus, our sportsman got a bronze medal. The employee of Power Plant #2 Dauren Mukushev and Oraz Muntynov from Pavlodar became the bronze medal holders as well. These achievements allowed the picked team of Kazakhstan taking the second all-team place in the championship. The Russians turned out to be triumphators.

We asked Serik Sattarov to share his impressions about the trip:

- The competitions were held not far from the city of Soloniki. Unfortunately, the weather was dull all the days. That is why, we did not manage to dip in the sea. But I remembered the people, all were friendly and affable. Many have heard about Kazakhstan, the first associations - Nazarbayev, Astana. There were no difficulties in communication at the competitions. As the roots of sambo are from Russia, the Russian speech was heard everywhere. It gave comfort to us. I would like to express the thankfulness to the management of the enterprise, which I work for. Thanks to the support of General Director Shchukin V.K., Director for Personnel and Social Policy Rakhmangulov E.Zh., Director of Bogatyr coal mine Makarov S.Zh., the Trade Union of the company, I managed to participate in the championships of the republican and international levels. I would also like to thank the sportsmen-fighters of Ekibastuz for their support in preparation for the competitions, the special thanks go to my first coach Panasenko V.G., who developed the interest to sport in me, and also to Pavlodar school of judo of the Olympic reserve. And of course to Valentina Titarenko for the presented opportunity to easily train in the sport and health complex. At each competition I opened the flag of Bogatyr Coal LLP because I wanted as many people as possible to find out about our enterprise.

So successful was the return to sport for the fighter Serik Sattarov, and we would like to congratulate him on one more achievement. Upon his return from Greece Deputy Director-Head of Overburden Complex of Bogatyr coal mine will continue working hard on resolution of production issues.
