Ekibastuz, January 16, 2013 – The miners of the joint Kazakhstani-Russian enterprise – Bogatyr Coal LLP – completed the 2012-year program on coal sales with the record results. For 12 months they shipped 44 million tons of coal to its customers, what is by 8,8% higher than the 2011 parameters. The company has reached such high results for the first time for the last four years of its activity in Ekibastuz basin. The specific feature of this period has been the fact that the company had been given the target to increase daily shipments of power-plant fuel. The target has been successfully fulfilled. For the period of over five months the miners of Bogatyr Coal LLP were working at the limit of their capabilities, shipping up to 150 ths. tons of coal to their customers daily, what exceeded the production capacity of the enterprise by 30%. At the same time the miners were carrying out the full program of mining equipment maintenance.

In 2012, 28,7 mm tons of coal were shipped to 14 Kazakhstani power plants, what is by 3,7 mm tons or by 15% higher than the volume of 2011. The main raise was contributed by Ekibastuz Power Plant #1, which consumed 9,7 million tons, whereas the volumes had been 6,6 million tons a year ago. Over two million tons were consumed for power and heat power generation by Heat Power Plant #2 belonging to JSC AlES. In the list of power enterprises of the country, which increased the consumption of coal from Bogatyr, there were such power plants as Pavlodar Heat Power Plant #3 of JSC Pavlodarenergo, Heat Power Plant # 3 of JSC AlES, Jet-7 LLP, Heat Power Plant #2 of JSC Astana-Energy, Kokshetau Zhyly public utility company with the right of economic management and others.

In 2012, 15,3 million tons of coal were sold to the Russian power plants. This is by 1,2% less than the shipments of 2011. The reduction took place for account of major customers – Troitsk Power Plant and Serov Power Plant. Cherepetskaya Power Plant located in the Tula Region increased the import of coal from Bogatyr, the same with Biisk Heat Power Plant of JSC Biiskenergo located in the Altay Region. In 2012, over 277 thousand tons of fuel total were delivered to these power enterprises.

By the volume of products mined Bogatyr Coal LLP is among the thirty largest enterprises of Kazakhstan. There are two coal mines – Bogatyr and Severny, two drainage mines, seven enterprises of auxiliary and servicing operations in its structure.

The company plans to deliver its products to Balkhash Thermal Power Plant. The plant will be consuming from 6 to 9 million tons of coal per year. The cycle and flow technology of coal mining, transportation and blending will allow providing this additional growth. The new technology will be implemented at Bogatyr coal mine by 2017. The cycle and flow technology will increase the production capacity of Bogatyr mine up to 50 million tons.

Taking into account that in the nearest future the demand in power plant coal will significantly grow, the enterprise has already started working on the project of further development of Severny mine. After 2020 the cycle and flow technology will be introduced at Severny coal mine either. This will allow increasing the mine capacity by eight million tons. Taking this into account, the production capacity of Bogatyr Coal LLP will reach 58 mm tons.
