Ekibastuz, April 6, 2011 – Bogatyr Coal, LLP the joint venture of the Kazakhstani JSC Samruk-Energo and the Russian company RUSAL, completed the scheduled program of the first quarter of 2011 with the positive results. For three months over 12 million tons of coal was shipped to the customers, what is 1.5 million tons, or 14% higher than the level of sales for the same period of 2010. At the same time the volume of coal deliveries made in average 29,4 trains per day against 25,8 trains in 2010. In Kazakhstan 17 railroad trains in average were used per day, as for Russia - 12,5 trains.
6,9 million tons of coal was shipped to Kazakhstani enterprises consuming the coal from Bogatyr coal mine in the first quarter of 2011, what is 12%, or over 726 thousand tons more than the sales volume in 2010. The increase of delivery volumes to the domestic power utilities became possible thanks to the increase of coal consumption on one largest power plants of Kazakhstan – Ekibastuz Power Plant-2, LLP. 1 million 34 thousand tons of coal was delivered to the plant from the beginning of the year. It is 142 thousand tons more than the plant consumed in 2010.
Among the leaders in consumption of Bogatyr coal there are some more Kazakhstani power utilities. It is Bassel Group LLS, Heat Power Plant-2 and Heat Power Plant-3 of JSC Pavlodarenergo. A total of over 500 thousand tons of coal was purchased by these heat power plants from the beginning of 2011.
The traditional Russian market looked sustainable from the beginning of 2011, as a whole. For the past three months 5 million 139 thousand tons of saleable coal was sold to it, what is 18% higher that the deliveries for the analogous period of 2010. Refta power plant remained the main customer of Bogatyr coal, like last year. 3,2 million tons was shipped to it from the year start, what exceeds the level of sales for the analogous period of 2010 by 1,2 million tons of coal. Verkhnetagilskaya power plant increased its demand for Bogatyr coal by 161 ths.tons of coal, having consumed 512 ths. of power fuel for three months, as a whole. At the same time one of the largest power plants of the Southern Ural – Troitsk power plant – decreased the consumption level by almost half a million. Two Omsk heat power plants also took less Bogatyr coal by 75 thousand tons of coal.
Currently the production capacity of two operating coal mines of Bogatyr Coal, LLP – Bogatyr and Severny – is 42 million tons of coal per year.
This year the energy feedstock of these mines is delivered to 10 largest power plants of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 5 power plants of the Russian Federation.
In 2011 Bogatyr Coal, LLP plans to ship over 38 million tons of power-plant fuel to its customers.
