Fulfilling the Obligations

On April 25 within the frames of Ecology Year in Pavlodar region on the basis of the Regional Communications Service the briefing was held on ecology issues with the participation of General Director of Bogatyr Coal LLP Rustam Sansyzbayev, Deputy Technical Director-Head of Environmental Protection Service of Bogatyr Coal LLP Nataliya Shulayeva and the representatives of the republican and Pavlodar mass media.

At the beginning of the briefing Rustam Sansyzbayev advised the gathered people in brief on the results of the enterprise work for the last year and the nearest perspectives. The main investment costs of the partnership are connected with the continuation of implementation of the truck and conveyor technology project on coal mining at Bogatyr coal mine. It was planned to spend over 20 billion tenge for these purposes this year. The cycle and flow technology (CFT) will be presented by two conveyor lines for transportation of up to 20 mm tons of coal per year on each. The company plans to start the purchase of German equipment beginning from next year in order to finish the project implementation by 2021.

By General Director, the conversion to the CFT will increase the rate of coal blending from coal seams with different coal quality and provide the stability of quality parameters of coal shipped for account of automation of control processes, will increase labor productivity. Taking into account the cycle and flow technology the specialists working for the enterprise will have training and obtain additional specialties. Besides, after the introduction of the CFT the company anticipates the reduction of the load on environment.

Deputy Technical Director-Head of Environmental Protection Service of Bogatyr Coal LLP Nataliya Shulayeva made the speech about the work performed by the company in the sphere of observance of ecological obligations:

- Annually the company management allocates the resources necessary for implementation of purposes and programs on environmental protection. In 2017 the amount of 2,808 billion tenge was actually spent versus the plan for 1,173 billion tenge.

The funds were used for disposal of overburden rocks into the temporary in-pit dump, isolation of excavator depositions and compacting the roof of waste dumps with inert rocks, organization of dust suppression when excavating coal in faces and on the technological automobile roads in the mine, prevention of land pollution with production and consumption wastes, conduct of radiation analysis of coal, crushed rock, support of landscape variety, conduct of the audit of the international management system ISO 14001-2004, ecological training and other events. For the current year the analogous events were planned to the amount of 1,219 billion tenge.

Deputy Technical Director-Head of Environmental Protection Service explained every stage in detail:

- The main ecological expenses of the last year – 2,6 billion tenge - are connected with the disposal of the overburden rocks into in-pit dumps at Severny and Bogatyr coal mines. It allowed the company reducing the disposal of overburden rocks on external dumps by 33,355,299.06 tons.

The important measure of support of environment quality and condition of workplaces is the fulfillment of measures of dust control, which are included in many technological production processes. As a result of the work done the company managed to reduce dust formation by 36,33 tons last year. The dust suppression on automobile roads in the pits takes place with the use of underground mine water. The repair and technical maintenance of aspiration systems of drill rigs also allows maintaining the efficiency of dust collection on the design level - about 90% of all products of drilling extracted from holes.

The enterprise carries out constant monitoring of oxidation-reduction reactions at waste dumps. The insulation of excavator depositions and compacting of the roof of waste dumps with inert rocks reduces the intensity of their course. The strict observance of technological schemes of waste dumps formation, the insulation with inert rocks during the terms not exceeding the incubation period of emergence of a new seat of an oxidation-reduction process of coal-containing rocks, reduces the volume of performed works on leveling areas with a bulldozer and compacting with a vibratory roller.

In the process of the partnership economic activity wastes are formed, in the course of treatment of which ecological, sanitary and epidemiologic requirements are observed. Particularly, the measures of re-use of wastes are envisaged, and also reduction of accumulated wastes by transferring their processing, disinfection, reclamation, safe removal and beneficial use to outside organizations and enterprises. As secondary raw materials the collection of waste paper is carried out.

The enterprise has a network of inspection wells, by which the monitoring of underground water quality is carried out. The purpose of this is the study of influence of external waste dumps on underground water of the adjacent territory.

The integral part of nature protection measures of Bogatyr Coal LLP is the support of landscape diversity, preservation of the terms of terrain relief functioning. This year the costs for planting trees and bushes on the industrial territory of the company, carrying out of green plants handling works made 3,3 mm tenge.

At the enterprise there is the constant control of quality of issued products - coal and crushed rock - whether it meets normative requirements, including on specific activity of natural radio nuclides and on the class of radiation hazard.

Closing her speech, Nataliya Shulayeva summarized:

- Bogatyr Coal LLP founded and supports the efficient management system in the realm of ecological policy and purposes. The environmental management system meets and properly supports and implements the requirements of ISO 14001 standard. In September 2017 the specialists of the certification body of TUV Rheinland Precisely Right LLP carried out the supervisory audit of the environmental management system of the company whether it meets the requirements of the international standard ISO 14001-2004. The company management system meets and properly supports and implements the requirements of the international standard.
