Exhausting for the welfare of people

Devoted to Alexander Shmeer

In October last year the collective of Bogatyr Coal mining company lost one of its best employees. Alexander Ivanovich Shmeer passed away. For many people he was not just the Chairman of the Trade Union Committee of Bogatyr Coal LLP, colleague – people perceived him as a friend, tutor, and advisor.

This person served as a shining example of a real enthusiast. He was devoted to work, he was addicted to it. Thanks to his enthusiasm to coalmining machinery he came to Ekibastuz from Karpinsk in April 1974 with the big group of specialists to assemble the first giant, world largest bucket-wheel excavator in Ekibastuz coal basin. For the young guy the work was interesting, by that time it was formidable and unprecedented. At that time ERShRD-5000 bucket-wheel excavator was the symbol of the industrial power of the country.

Alexander Ivanovich remembered gratefully those three years, during which the big group of assemblers consisting of over 300 persons was assembling the giant machine with the height of a 20-storeyed house and weight of over 6 thousand tons. The people worked at the time not counting work hours, giving all their forces and knowledge to work. He carried this principle of full commitment through his whole life. It did no matter, whether he worked as an excavator operator’s assistant, and then an operator-electrician of a bucket-wheel excavator, senior operator or the Chairman of the United Trade Union Committee – he exhausted himself for the work.

Alexander Ivanovich was always joyful and cordial, he treated people with respect. That is why, he tried to find a common language with both workers and the management. His skill to come to an accommodation without confrontation, not fomenting tension, to resolve issues – was excellent. The main result of his near work is the collective labor agreement of Bogatyr Coal LLP, which is currently one of the best in the country.

It is very bitter to lose such talented, life-loving, faithful people. The coal miners remember Alexander Ivanovich Shmeer with warm words, preserving what he achieved for his long carrier at the largest coal company of Kazakhstan.
