Photo-competition
On the second of April in Astana there finished the photo-competition called Miner. Underground Miner. Metallurgist, which took place within the frames of the Fifth Mining Forum MINEX. Over fifty photographers – both amateur and professional – working for enterprises and organizations of the mining industry of the Central Asian countries took part it is. Among them there was our countryman, photographer of Bogatyr Coal mining company Anatoliy Butyrin. He came from Astana with the main prize in one of the announced nominations.
The work of the photographer Anatoliy Butyrin is known in Kazakhstan and far beyond it. Among the photographers he is called the General of Coal Pits for some reason. The special place in the collection of his works is taken by industrial landscapes; they are mainly represented by the views of coal pits and “portraits” of coalmining machines – excavators, large trucks, and conveyor lines. There is some romanticism in them, delight at production scale and power of machinery.
His paintings – one can not call them alternatively – were represented at many local and international photo-competitions and brought the popularity, viewer recognition and different awards to the photographer. The participation in the third photo-competition called Miner. Underground Miner. Metallurgist became a debut for him and it was evaluated deservedly.
From five photos presented for the competition the industrial landscape especially loved by the photographer came through to the final. The main characters of the work were the white swans, which annually come to the nesting sites not far from the overburden dumps of Bogatyr coal mine. These swans are called Butyrin’s. And all this is because Anatoliy waits for their arrival with the special impatience searching for a rare cadre, on which the tender creatures will luckily blend with the industrial facilities. Probably, by this reason Swans at Bogatyr brought Grand Prix to the creative person as the thankfulness and the gift from the organizers of the photo-competition in the nomination Industrial Landscape Environmental Care.
