In 2009 Bogatyr Coal, a joint venture of Samruk Kazyna Kazakhstani National Welfare Fund and RUSAL Russian company sold its customers as much 34.8 million tons of coal including 20.85 million tons sold the power enterprises of Kazakhstan and 13,95 million tons sold the power enterprises of Russia.

On the eve of Miners’ Day the Honor Board of Bogatyr Coal, LLP has been renewed: the old portraits of the best workers by the results of the company’s activity in 2008 were carefully removed and packed, and on their place there are seventeen new portraits now.

By the оld-established tradition the miners of Bogatyr Coal, LLP on the eve of the professional holiday give the names of their best representatives. They are awarded with departmental awards, they are honored at solemn meetings, they are given diplomas and cash bonuses.

One of the most important strategic aims of Bogatyr Coal, LLP is the creation of environmental safe production. The environmental issues are solved within the framework of complex program, the basic priority of which is the reduction of the harmful effect of production on environment. Its basic components are the following: modernization of the company, implementation of progressive technologies and ecological management systems.

Bogatyr Coal, LLP management envisages the creation of the ecological management system as an stage on ensuring of competitiveness of its product and as an mechanism on searching of internal reserves for improvement of the ecological situation and reduction of the volumes of environmental pollution.

While creating it the data of the ecological audit has been used as a basic tool of search, analysis and determination of the ways of environmental impact reduction during the production activity of the Company. The work had the initiative character. It has been fulfilled by the forces of the Health Protection and Ecoprojection, LLP, Almaty city. The characteristics of the company location region, environmental components state and technogenous factors of risk as well as social-and-economic conditions in the region has been given in the work. All the ecological aspects of the company’s work have been fully determined and the following risks have been identified: ambient air state, surface and underground water state, soil state and health of personnel.

The held researches have allowed the solving of the ecological problems left from the previous owner and proportioning its perspective development to possible environmental consequences.

In 2006 the Company also got the ISO 14001:2004 certificate, which confirms the meeting of the environmental management system developed at the company with the requirements of the International Standard. The certificate has been given by the International Certification Association TUEV SUED Industrie ServiceGmbH. The availability of the certificate is an evidence of that Bogatyr Coal, LLP is carrying out a large and serious work directed to prevention of any ecological violations and trying to reduce the negative effect on environment step by step.
