In 2009 Bogatyr Coal, a joint venture of Samruk Kazyna Kazakhstani National Welfare Fund and RUSAL Russian company sold its customers as much 34.8 million tons of coal including 20.85 million tons sold the power enterprises of Kazakhstan and 13,95 million tons sold the power enterprises of Russia.

On the eve of Miners’ Day the Honor Board of Bogatyr Coal, LLP has been renewed: the old portraits of the best workers by the results of the company’s activity in 2008 were carefully removed and packed, and on their place there are seventeen new portraits now.

By the оld-established tradition the miners of Bogatyr Coal, LLP on the eve of the professional holiday give the names of their best representatives. They are awarded with departmental awards, they are honored at solemn meetings, they are given diplomas and cash bonuses.

Bogatyr Coal, LLP is going to finish the technical rearmament fully by 2015 and convert to delivery of blended coal to customers. The Company began the conversion to the new technology of coal mining and blending in 2001 and it will implement this long-term program in three stages. The conveyor-and-railway complex on coal blending and loading operating at Bogatyr Mine was reconstructed within the framework of the first stage (2001-2004) with the increment of its productivity up to 14 million tonnes of coal per annum. It became possible due to simultaneous loading of conveyor with coal by two bucket-wheel excavators from different quality faces with the predetermined productivity. The fluctuation of coal ash in cars is reduced by 2-2,5 times at this method of blending; the maximum declinations do not exceed 3-5% of the average value. The Company’s management considers this engineering solution as a solely correct one. This complex will continue its work until the mine converts to the cycle-and-flow technology.

The depth of mines for the present moment is 230÷255 meters. It is a critical index for transportation of coal to surface with the use of railway technology in turn.

The second stage (2005 - 2008) envisages the implementation of the automobile-and-railway technology with the use of hydraulic excavators, large trucks as well as conveyor-and-railway technology on coal blending. The implementation of the automobile-and-railway technology is an interim stage of the conversion to the cycle-and-flow technology of coal mining and loading. Coal from face will be mined by hydraulic excavators with loading to large trucks (with the carrying capacity of 90-130 tonnes), which will transport the coal till the points of stockpile formation with blended coal. Railway cars will be loaded with blended coal from stockpiles by bucket-wheel excavators. In this case the fluctuation of ash content in cars will be minimized.

The pilot-and-industrial operation of the automobile-and-railway technology, which was new not only for Bogatyr Coal, LLP but also for the deposit wholly, has been carried out with the active assistance of the representatives of German Firm «Liebherr», Turkish Company «Borusan Makina», which is a dealer of American Company «Caterpillar» and specialists from Australia. The Company has invested about 18 million dollars for the implementation of the project.

During the third and final stage of the program (2008 ÷ 2015) the Company will fully convert to the Cycle-and-Flow Technology of Mining with the blending of whole coal volume mined at Bogatyr Mine. The Company shall have to make the significant investments into the technical rearmament namely at this stage. During this period the trunk conveyors with crushing-and-reloading points of coal reloading from automobile transport to conveyor one, lifting conveyors for coal transportation from the mine to surface as well a blending and loading complex at el.+165 meters will be built in the mine. The replacement of bucket-wheel excavators for single-bucket and hydraulic ones will be finished and the fleet of large trucks will be fully completed when implementing the third stage of the program with the expectation of the production capacity 50 million tonnes of coal per annum.
